Ryan Tate is the former Technology Editor of The Intercept. Prior to that, he wrote about the use, abuse, and subversion of corporate power in the technology sector and beyond, most recently at Wired, where he was a senior writer. Before that he was a reporter for Gawker, where he exposed boardroom hypocrisy at Google, sparked an FBI investigation into iPad security, and conducted a viral, antagonist ambush interview with Steve Jobs. He is the author of “The 20% Doctrine,” a book on corporate insurrection and innovation, and the developer of Typingpool, command-line software to ease audio transcription. He has also worked as a writer and reporter at the San Francisco Business Times, Business 2.0, and Upside. He lives in Brooklyn.
